Intermediate Lindy Hop Workshop
"Get To The Next Level"

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  1. What level is this appropriate for?

We really do mean it's beg/int to int/adv. We won't be doing complex moves (which are often indicative of int/adv dancers compared to beg/int dancers).

We are really going to do do a lot of fundamental technique and show off some unconventional things you can do with your dancing with superb techinque.

The int/adv dancers will probably catch on to these techniques quicker and the "non-conentional" uses of it sooner, but it will be a lot of great new stuff.

  2. What kind of techniques?

A lot of reaction and technique. In our experience (mostly from private lessons) we have found beg/int to int/adv still do a lot of "contextual" dancing. The fundamental techniques we return to will take us more into reacting.

That is also why we will do some "unconventional" things with the basic - things that most folks will not have a context for yet.

  3. What experience level do I need then?

To be able to do the basic and some variations without having to think of your footwork - we will be taking footwork out of the equation :)

  4. What is the stylings lesson all about?

We are really big into adding jazz movements and freestyle movements into dancing. We'll introduce a lot of jazz steps and slides and new movements into basics and then help you come up with your own movements too

This comes first from some good technique - this frees up the feet to do other things!

  5. Can you give an example of a drill or technique?

One thing we like to do to make sure you are really leading/following/reacting with the body is to make a simple change to the Lindy basic footwork ... something you may not necessarily use out social dancing, but subtle and different enough to really make us focus on technique.

This workshop is with the beginning/intermediate to intermediate/advanced dancer in mind.

This workshop is designed for people who have been learning Lindy or dancing Lindy for a year, maybe two, maybe longer, that enjoys taking various weekly lessons and venue lessons but desires to get some in-depth help on tecnique and connection and styling.

  • We take the Lindy Basic and examine it and tear it down and build it up again with as many fundamental concepts as we can hit in our hour. We expect a wide range of levels of dancer at the "intermediate" level and we will cover all bases!
  • We then spice it up with footwork and styling.
  • We then turn you loose on two oldie-but-goody moves: passes and tuck turns, and show you how to use them in ways to your dancing to really make it dynamic!

Workshop Schedule:

PLEASE NOTE: We will start promptly at 1:00pm.

PLEASE NOTE: There is no break for lunch. Just a 5 to 10 minute break between classes.

NO PARTNER REQUIRED. Beg/Int to Int/Adv Lindy Hoppers please. If you want to know if you qualify, do not hesitate to contact us. If you can do the Lindy basic plus some turns and variations at a 150bpm level or so without thinking about the footwork, you qualify. Even if you do not know fancier moves than that, we are working on a lot of fundamental technique using the Lindy Basic as our reference.

Most people who consistently take the intermediate lesson at LindyGroove.

If you have taken our Lindy 1 series a few times and can do the basic + variations without thinking about the footwork, you qualify!
